Host: Invasive Species Collaborative at Virginia Tech

Invasive Species Open House

Where: In-person
When: February 25, 2025 2:00 pm

As part of National Invasive Species Awareness Week (February 24-28), the ISC will be at Newman Library on Tuesday, February 25th from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. to share information about invasive insects and plants (with a focus on ornamentals) in Virginia. We will also provide resources for species identification and reporting. This is also a great opportunity to check out our year-long invasive species exhibit and engage with ISC affiliates and partners!

Exhibit background: Designed in partnership with the Invasive Species Collaborative, Virginia Tech Insect ID Lab, and Newman Library, this exhibit aims to educate the Virginia Tech community about invasive species – what they are, their impacts, how they can be introduced to new areas, and much more. Perhaps most importantly, this exhibit seeks to empower individual and collective action to better prevent and slow the spread of invasive species in the Commonwealth and beyond.

As a reminder, the exhibit is on the second floor of Newman Library and is open to the public.
